GWPS are implementing their new learning gears. Learning Gears are the specific research proven skills that we want our students to learn about, use and refer to in order to become successful global citizens in our ever evolving world. For the past year, we have had a team of teachers working alongside Mark Treadwell to write and develop our own programme which we are now implementing throughout our whole school. For the first year, during each half term the school will have a, ‘Learning Gear’ focus, this term’s focus is Identity.
We want our pupils:
·To understand who they are as a person by identifying and celebrating what makes them unique.
·To identify their interests, hobbies, talents and ambitions.
·To recognise themselves as a learner as well as understand the feelings and emotions that may come with this.
·To identity and articulate where they are in the learning process through the use of the learning pit.
·To be actively involved in their learning through the use of effective feedback.
·To know that we can control our mind-set and that effort and resilience can help us achieve to the best of our ability.
·To celebrate that there is no one else like them!
