Innovation in education is often linked to use of technology to enhance learning. Whilst we are incredibly focussed on developing this area of our curriculum, we look to innovate in many more ways than this;
Our definition of Innovation:
Innovation is a way of thinking that creates something new (invention) or better (iterative). It is the practical application of both ideas and technologies.
To be an innovative school we believe in:
Relevant and purposeful learning experiences.
Extensive strategic and operational actions which promote innovative and creative solutions.
Being highly effective in anticipating and addressing potential barriers to sustained improvement.
Relationships and communication with all stakeholders are consistently professional and highly effective.
“There is no substitute for a teacher who designs authentic, participatory, and relevant learning experiences for her unique population of students. The role of the teacher is to inspire learning and develop skills and mind-sets of learners. A teacher, as a designer and facilitator, should continually evolve with resources, experiences, and the support of a community. It is becoming increasingly clear that we don’t necessarily need to transform the role of teachers, rather create a culture that inspires and empowers teachers to innovate in the pursuit of providing optimal learning experiences for their students.” Katie Martin – Creating a culture of innovation vs a transformation.
